About
I work with adults, and couples, experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Mostly I work with anxiety (panic, obsessive-compulsive behaviours and phobias), substance and gambling addiction, suicidal thoughts and behaviours and self harm difficulties, depression, relationship issues (including sex therapy), personality disorders, post-traumatic stress and sexual abuse.
I have a particular interest in helping people who have been exposed to trauma, many of whom subsequently develop Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The majority of my work is with Police, Paramedics, and Fire Fighters, who develop PTSD directly because of the work they do.
My training includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness-Based therapies.
My goal always is to provide caring, non-judgmental, evidence-based therapy that facilitates new skills and changes distressing patterns.
My Work
Psychology Practice
Many Australians struggle with mental health difficulties. Relationship conflict or job stress, social anxiety, feeling unmotivated and coping with health problems or injuries are part of everyday life, but they can also negatively impact your life. Psychology Perspective can help.
Doctoral Thesis
This study hypothesised that stress related growth could be primed in police officers and that due to the concentration difficulties associated with PTSD, both written and verbal priming would be associated with more growth than verbal priming alone.
Contact
I’m open to hearing about speaking appointments and peer supervision.
